The Potomac Division has a summer music conservatory that dates back several decades. In 2012, that program officially became the James B. Anderson Music & Arts Conservatory in honor of former music director, James B. Anderson (1946 – 2010).
The James B. Anderson Music & Arts Conservatory is a 5 week program that focuses on the musical and spiritual growth of delegates ages 12 – 17. Delegates will focus on becoming proficient at any one of these artistic mediums: brass & percussion, creative arts, dance, piano, guitar, and more. On top of that, everyone sings together as a choir, chooses an elective, and spends time every day studying the Bible.
In short, conservatory delegates spend the summer strengthening both the creative and spiritual aspects of their lives.
In recent years, the conservatory has performed at notable locations such as Nationals Stadium, the Lincoln Memorial, and even in the Washington DC Independence Day parade.
